Edinburgh 2010

It's been a couple of years since we were last in Edinburgh and we'd really missed the city. It's our favourite place in the UK. It was our first home together and for that reason it will always special. It was pretty awesome to be able to go back for a few days to visit and actually learn some things about the place we love.

We did all the touristy things - visit the castle, walk round the city on a tour, visit the vaults, walk round the botanical gardens. The weather even stayed dry for us!

Here are just a couple of the photos I took (there are lots and lots more lol). They were both taken whilst we were on the walking tour on Saturday.

I love Edinburgh's architecture. The detailing on the buildings and I love this Victoria Street in particular. The mix of colours against the beautiful buildings. How I would love to have a little store on a street like that! Just a shame about the building works going on lol.

This shot is one of the castle. We'd never been up to the castle before last weekend and we kind of shocked to see all the different buildings from the different periods. It's well worth the visit!

Another new look...

Have you seen my *new* new blog header? I decided that I needed a completely new look. Something has come over me in the last week and I'm trying to inject some Spring into my life. Hence the fresh new look to my blog. And to my challenge LO for ECP this week...

Go over and take a look at the other DT work for this challenge - Nan provided the sketch for this week and it is being sponsored by Jane's Doodles.

I'm now busy, working hard on Altered Chic products after a successful weekend at Bakewell. I'll be back there again on 13th/14th March. Until then I need to get busy on a secret new venture for Altered Chic which I'm hoping to be able to share really soon. Plus John and I going away to Edinburgh for a long weekend on Thursday - a belated Valentine's present to each other. We love that city and can't wait to see it again (post destructive tram-line stuff).

Working Hard

Got a few days off work this week and I've been making good use of it.

I've been putting together and designing lots for the new ranges at Altered Chic. We'll be introducing more home and garden products to our ranges this year. More information coming soon.

I've also been working on the new challenge for ECP later this week. Here's a sneaky preview of my project...

This week has also given me some time to think and I really want to put my all into my business this year so I've been looking at Elsie's Indie Business class. I'm signing up this evening. I can't wait to see how it is going to help me with my business plans.

Speaking of which, I've got a few more thing to complete before I can spend some time with John.

Papertrey Anniversary Challenge

Now I'm not normally someone who finds time to play along with many challenges (or blog either it seems lol), but I couldn't let this challenge pass me by from the Papertrey Ink Anniversary celebration.

If you don't already know PTI, I suggest going for a look right now because not only have they got the most to-die for clear stamps sets and colour schemes, they are also introducing a whole load of new products. I'm saving up big time to pay for all the goodies and shipping lol.

On with the challenge. My username is CraftyGal so I had to use this colour scheme to create a paint by numbers card (you can find the drawing here).

Here is the card I made...

Because I'm not lucky enough to own my own PTI colour schemes yet, I had to find the closest matches I could. I also found that I'm rally going to need the new scallop die!

1 - kraft
2 - vintage cream
3 - spring moss
4 - lemon tart
5 - ocean tides

I had to use mini punches circles to create the scalloped edge and covered the join with a strip of irridescent glitter, which I really like. It looks much whiter and prettier in real life.

I think I'm certainly going to be playing with more sketches and colour combinations in the future : )
